12. SEOCheckr.io Chrome Extension - Privacy Policy
Extension name: "SEOCheckr.io - SEO Analyzer" | Extension ID: dlpkmgngidfklpaokgnajpinmhfdeecg | Publisher: SEOCheckr.io
IMPORTANT — Summary in one sentence: the SEOCheckr.io Chrome extension runs 100% locally in your browser, does NOT collect any personal data, does NOT require an account, does NOT send any user data to any server, and does NOT share user data with any third party. The sections below describe in detail, as required by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (including the Purple Nickel / Prominent Disclosure requirement): (1) what user data we collect, (2) how we process it, (3) how we store it, and (4) whether we share it with any third party.
12.1 Prominent Disclosure and Affirmative Consent
In accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (Prominent Disclosure / Purple Nickel), the Extension reads the HTML of the currently active tab ONLY after your explicit click, and this disclosure is made available to you in-product AND at install time via this Privacy Policy:
- What is disclosed: Clicking the extension icon will read the SEO-relevant HTML of the page currently open in the active tab (meta tags, headings, alt attributes, link structure) in order to compute an SEO score displayed in the popup.
- When it is disclosed: BEFORE any collection occurs. No data is read until you click the extension icon on a tab. Without your click, the extension does absolutely nothing.
- How consent is obtained: Your affirmative click on the extension icon constitutes explicit consent to analyze the page currently in the active tab. Closing the popup ends any processing.
- Link to this policy: The extension popup contains a visible link to this Privacy Policy (https://www.seocheckr.io/privacy#extension) so you can review it at any time.
- Opt-out and revocation: You can stop using the extension at any time by (a) not clicking its icon, or (b) uninstalling the extension — which removes ALL local settings.
- Scope limitation: The extension does NOT run in the background, does NOT auto-collect data, and does NOT access any page other than the one you explicitly click on.
- No account, no login, no quota: The extension requires NO account, NO login, and imposes NO usage limit. You can analyze as many pages as you want, anonymously.
Limited Use: LIMITED USE CERTIFICATION: The Extension does not transfer user data to any external server. All processing happens locally in your browser. Consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy — Limited Use requirements: no data is sold, no data is used for personalized advertising, no data is transferred for any purpose, and no AI model is trained on the pages you analyze.
12.2 Permissions Used and Why
- activeTab: Grants temporary access to ONLY the currently active tab, and ONLY at the moment you click the extension icon. Required to read the SEO-relevant HTML of the page you explicitly choose to analyze. No access to any other tab, no background access, no permanent host permission.
- storage: Uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to save a single piece of data: your language preference (EN or FR) for the popup UI. Stored locally on your device. Nothing else is stored — no analysis history, no token, no account.
- scripting: Required to extract SEO data (title, meta tags, headings, alt attributes, link structure, Core Web Vitals signals) from the page you chose to analyze. The script runs only upon your click, only on that page, only once per click.
12.3 Data Collection — What the Extension Collects
The Extension collects a strictly minimal amount of data, and only the following items. Nothing is sent to any server.
- Transient website content (read in memory, then discarded): When you click the extension icon on a tab, the Extension reads the URL and SEO-relevant HTML (meta tags, H1-H6, alt attributes, internal/external link counts, structured data, Core Web Vitals signals) of that single page. This data is processed in memory and is DISCARDED as soon as the popup is closed. It is NEVER stored on disk. It is NEVER sent to any server.
- Language preference: Your UI language choice (EN or FR). Stored locally in chrome.storage.local. Never transmitted.
Important: We do NOT collect, and the Extension does NOT have access to: your browsing history, personally identifiable information (name, email, phone), health information, financial information, authentication data or passwords, personal communications, location, web history from tabs you did not analyze, form inputs, cookies from visited sites, IP addresses (we run no server), device identifiers, or any user activity across websites. The Extension does NOT use any analytics (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Mixpanel, no Sentry, no third-party tracker of any kind).
12.4 Data Processing — How We Use the Data
Processing is 100% local to your browser. We (SEOCheckr.io) have NO access to what the extension reads.
- Local SEO analysis (the only purpose): Extracted HTML is processed entirely in your browser to compute scores, detect issues (missing alt text, broken meta tags, heading structure), and build the report shown in the popup. All computations happen in memory on your device.
- Displaying results: Processed results are rendered in the popup for your immediate use. Raw HTML is discarded from memory as soon as the popup is closed.
- No server processing: The extension makes NO network requests for analysis. There is no backend involved. There is no AI inference server involved. Nothing is uploaded.
- No profiling, no AI training: We do not profile you. We do not train AI models on the pages you analyze. We do not aggregate, sell, or share your usage data.
12.5 Data Storage — Where and How Long
Below is an exhaustive description of what is stored, where, and for how long.
- Language preference (EN or FR): Stored locally in chrome.storage.local on YOUR device. Retained until you change it or uninstall the extension. Never transmitted.
- Raw HTML of analyzed pages: NOT stored. Processed in memory during analysis, then discarded when the popup is closed. Neither local nor server storage.
- Analysis results (scores, issues, recommendations): NOT stored. Displayed in the popup only, discarded when the popup is closed. No history is kept.
- Authentication tokens, emails, accounts: NOT stored. The extension has no login and no account. Nothing of this nature exists.
- Server-side storage: NONE. The extension does not use any server. No Supabase, no database, nothing. The SEOCheckr.io website has its own database for the web app, but the Chrome extension does NOT interact with it.
- No cloud sync: The extension never pushes data to Chrome Sync, Google Drive, or any third-party cloud.
12.6 Data Sharing — Third Parties and Transfers
The extension does NOT share user data with any third party. Full stop. Below is the exhaustive list of the (very few) cases where anything at all leaves your device.
- SEOCheckr.io servers: The extension does NOT send any analysis data, URL, HTML, or identifier to SEOCheckr.io servers. No network call is made to seocheckr.io during analysis. (The only exception is the optional uninstall feedback form — see below.)
- Supabase, Stripe, Google, Resend, or any other processor: The extension does NOT transmit anything to any third-party service. The extension never touches these providers.
- Optional uninstall feedback (user-initiated only): If you uninstall the extension, Chrome opens a web page at https://www.seocheckr.io/extension/uninstall that OPTIONALLY lets you type a reason for uninstalling. This form only captures the free-text reason YOU voluntarily write and submit. You may close the page without submitting anything. No data is sent automatically.
- Advertisers, data brokers, analytics trackers: NEVER. The extension contains no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Mixpanel, no Sentry, no advertising SDK, and no tracker of any kind.
- Data sale: NEVER. We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. The extension collects no personal data to sell in the first place.
- Legal disclosure: Because the extension collects no personal data and sends nothing to our servers, there is nothing we could hand over in response to a legal request — we simply do not have your extension data.
CERTIFICATION: Consistent with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies — User Data Policy / Limited Use: the Extension does not transfer user data for any purpose. We do not use this data for personalized advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it for any purpose. The single, user-visible purpose of the extension is local SEO analysis.
12.7 Security
- No network connection is made by the extension, so no data is exposed in transit
- No server stores any of your extension data (no attack surface)
- The only locally stored data (language preference) contains no personal or sensitive information
- Regular dependency audits and security reviews of the extension source code
12.8 Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
- Stop using the extension: Simply do not click its icon. With no click, the extension does nothing.
- Full uninstall (removes ALL local data): Right-click the extension icon → "Remove from Chrome". Your language preference is erased.
- GDPR/CCPA rights: Since the extension collects no personal data and keeps nothing on any server, there is no personal data to access, rectify, port, or erase from our side. If you still wish to contact us about data practices, email contact@seocheckr.io.
12.9 What We Do NOT Do
- We do not require a login or an account
- We do not impose any usage quota (analyze unlimited pages)
- We do not send any data to any server
- We do not collect your browsing history
- We do not track your activity across websites
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties
- We do not display advertisements inside the extension
- We do not access pages you do not actively choose to analyze
- We do not read or collect passwords, form inputs, or cookies
- We do not run in the background
- We do not use any third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Mixpanel, no Sentry)
- We do not train AI models on the content of pages you analyze
- We do not store any history of your analyses
12.10 Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us at contact@seocheckr.io and we will delete it.
